Dan Kabwe expresses concerns over Silver Strikers goal conversion rate

  Lucky Mwewa Chama | 03-04-22 TNM Super League side Silver Strikers coach Dan Kabwe has noted that the team has been creating many chances which they have not been converting. Reacting to Sunday’s 2-1 win over Mighty Wanderers, Kabwe says the Bankers are good to go after collecting three points following a loss to Blue Eagles in their previous encounter. Kabwe described Sunday’s match as tactical game but was pleased that the team managed to prevail. He said: “We are coming from a loss and the one today was a very tactical game, but we prevailed. We are good to go after collecting three points. We created so many chances, but our problem is scoring. Kansanshi Dynamos sign Marvin Jere from Lusaka Dynamos

 Solwezi based Super League side Kansanshi Dynamos has announced the signing of Marvin Jere from Lusaka Dynamos Football Club. Kansanshi Dynamos media has revealed that the attacking midfielder has penned down a 2 year contract with the Mabanga boys. Jere becomes Kansanshi Dynamos’ third signing in the January transfer window after the capturing of former Zesco United striker Jesse Jackson Were and former Zanaco striker Baba Basile. Kansanshi Dynamos are currently sitting in 13th position with 20 points after recording 5 wins, 5 draws and 8 defeats in the 2021/2022 Super League season.

Forest Rangers striker Quadri Kola hails Nigeria’s performance against Egypt

  Forest Rangers and Nigerian international, Quadri Kola says he was very happy with his countrymen's performance in Tuesday night's Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group D game against Egypt. Speaking to the Club’s media, Kola believes the Super Eagles will go far in the competition if they continue with the same mentality and spirit they exhibited in their opening match against Egypt. Kola believes the Super Eagles of Nigeria are one of the favorites to win the Africa Cup of Nations which is currently underway in Cameroon. "Looking at how the Super Eagles played last night, I think if they continue playing like that with the same mentality and spirit throughout the tournament, they are already 80% on their way to winning the AFCON," Kola said. Nigeria started their AFCON campaign on a bright note following a 1-0 triumph over Egypt thanks to a Kelechi Iheanacho volley in the 30 th minute which was enough to sink the Pharaohs.

Chipolopolo striker Justin Shonga joins PSL side Sekhukhune United

  Zambian striker Justin Shonga has signed a 2-year contract with South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Sekhukhune United. Shonga who is capped 33-times for the Zambia national team has been training with the club during the mid-season break. Shonga returns to the PSL  where he has previously feature for Orlando Pirates as he played a total of 46 matches before joining  Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila ( TTM) and Cape Town City and made a move to Egypt to join Ismaily Sports Club. At Sekhukhune, Shonga will link up with former Zesco United and Zambian international goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata. Sekhukhune have also signed international striker Elmo Kambindu of Namibia who will join fellow Namibians Peter Shalulile of Mamelodi Sundowns, Deon Hotto at Orlando Pirates and Ananias Gebhardt of Baroka United in the PSL. Sekhukhune will kick off the second half of the season on Sunday, 16 January with an away fixture against Stellenbosch FC in the Winelands.

Enock Mwepu describes the Africa Cup of Nations as a powerful force uniting Africa

  Zambia National Team midfielder Enock Mwepu has described the Africa Cup of Nations as a powerful force that unites the entire African continent. In an interview with Albion TV, Mwepu says the AFCON provides the chance to African players to showcase their talent at the biggest tournament, which is the every player’s tournament to play in. The Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder is confident the current crop of Chipolopolo players will make it to the Africa Cup of Nations in the near future but will need to work hard so that they can qualify and compete at the tournament. Mwepu says despite failing, the team must be lessons from the failure to qualify and remain united so that they can realize the dream of featuring at the Africa Cup.

FAZ president says playing in the rainy season presents clubs an opportunity to improve infrastructure

  Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president says playing league games in the rainy season has presented an opportunity to clubs to work on their infrastructure. In his weekly president’s corner, Andrew Kamanga says it is regrettable that clubs have not been aggressively responsive in ensuring that infrastructure is upgraded to match up the level of exposure they have had playing on the continent. “Rather, than complain about playing our games in the rainy season we must take up the challenge as an opportunity to work on our infrastructure,” Kamanga said.  “It is regrettable that our clubs have not been aggressively responsive in ensuring that infrastructure is upgraded to match up the level of exposure they have had playing on the continent,” he added. Kamanga notes that with strict CAF standards for hosting continental matches, it would be good to be forward looking for clubs that have targeted CAF participation to work on the football infrastructure. “With str...
