Enock Mwepu describes the Africa Cup of Nations as a powerful force uniting Africa

 

Zambia National Team midfielder Enock Mwepu has described the Africa Cup of Nations as a powerful force that unites the entire African continent.

In an interview with Albion TV, Mwepu says the AFCON provides the chance to African players to showcase their talent at the biggest tournament, which is the every player’s tournament to play in.



The Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder is confident the current crop of Chipolopolo players will make it to the Africa Cup of Nations in the near future but will need to work hard so that they can qualify and compete at the tournament.

Mwepu says despite failing, the team must be lessons from the failure to qualify and remain united so that they can realize the dream of featuring at the Africa Cup.

GREEN EAGLES ANNOUNCE THE SIGNING OF STRIKER LINEKER MWIIKISA ON AN 18 MONTHS DEAL

Choma based Super League side Green Eagles has announced the signing Zambian striker Lineker Mwiikisa on an 18 months Contract. Green Eagles Media says Mwiikisa has joined the Zambia National Service outfit as a free agent after plying his trade at Club Ferroviario de Beira of Mozambique. The Kawale Boys have also announced that they have recalled goalkeeper Eric Mapulanga from his loan stint at Division 1 outfits ZNS Lwamfumu Football Club. Green Eagles are currently top of the Zambian Super League on 40 points from 20 League matches.

MICHO CLOSE TO PICKING FINAL AFCON AND CHAN SQUADS

Zambia National Soccer Team coach Milutin Sredojevic says he is closer to having his final teams for the back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Botswana and also the African Nations Championship (CHAN). Micho, who is currently drilling 42 local players says his will trim the current number of players to 30 after this week’s assessment at Lusaka’s National Heroes Stadium. “We have overall 52 players, 10 of them are absent due to competitive duties and 42 are here, 36 in-field players and six goalkeepers. From this number of 52 we shall go down 24 field players and four goalkeepers that will start next Monday 9th March camp. That will culminate in the match against Malawi that we are playing on Wednesday,” he said.
