Prison Leopards signs Nigerian striker

  Kabwe based Super League side Prison Leopards Football Club this Wednesday officially unveiled their new 24-year old Nigerian striker David Obash Mkpa on a three-year deal with the club. According to the club’s media, Obash formerly featured for Tanzanian outfit Mbeya FC Top man had earlier traveled back to his home country for documentation after being one of the successful players who were invited for trials. Obash says his aim at the club is to add more strength to the team and further states that he is eager to do his level best. Meanwhile, the Prison Leopards have since intensified preparations in readiness for this weekend’s crucial encounter against Nkwazi as they seek to bounce back from their one nil defeat at the hands of Indeni FC. High flying Nkwazi host Prison Leopards on Saturday, 28th November, 2020, in Lusaka, at Edwin Imboela Stadium with kickoff slated for 15:00hrs.

Green Eagles coach confident of away win in Burundi

  GREEN Eagles coach Aggrey Chiyangi is confident of a good result in Saturday’s Confederation Cup first round, first leg tie against Burundian club Musongati at Intwari Stadium in Bujumbura. After a morning work out, Chiyangi said the players are upbeat and at ease despite having been subjected to a COVID-19 test upon arrival at Bujumbura Airport on Monday evening. Chiyangi, who said he had gone through a lot in African football, said the players were relaxed as they awaited to be swabbed. He said the mood in camp is positive although they have been training under quarantine since Tuesday. Chiyangi is also positive that his players, who are used to playing on natural grass in Zambia, will get used to the synthetic turf at Intwari Stadium by Saturday. Zambia Under-17 Men’s Team kickoff COSAFA Title defense against Comoros Islands

  The Zambia Men’s Under-17 National Team will this afternoon begin its quest to defend the COSAFA Championship title with a Group B fixture against the Comoros Islands. Zambia coach George Chilufya says his technical bench has outlined straightforward objectives for the COSAFA outing which include starting off with a win. “The first game is always important in the tournament; we are not taking Comoros as a lightweight. We will give them the respect that they deserve, and will always take this game very serious,” Chilufya said. Don't be carried away - Micho urges Chipolopolo players

  Chipolopolo coach Milutin Sredojevic has called on his players not to be carried away by the 2-1 win first leg victory over Botswana in the Cameroon 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Thursday evening. Speaking in a post-match conference, Micho said there is no need to be over-confident but is full of belief in the work his technical bench and the players are doing to ensure Zambia gets another important win in the qualification process. “We are fully aware where we have been. U-17 Women National Team start preps for COSAFA

 Lucky Mwewa Chama | 23 September, 2020 Zambia Under-17 Women National team Coach Kangwa Kaluba says his technical bench has summoned 45 players to camp. The team which commenced preparations for the 2020 Cosafa tournament slated for South Africa next was taken through the paces by Coach Kaluba at Barca Academy. Kaluba said he has roped in half of the players from the 2019 inaugural Cosafa tournament while the other half comprised first timers. He noted that most of the players were not in good shape arising from the Covid-19 induced break from all football activities. “The majority of the players are not in good shape. FIFA lifts Nkana’s transfer ban

  Lucky Mwewa Chama | 23 September, 2020 FIFA has lifted a transfer ban imposed on thirteen times Super League champions Nkana Football Club following a dispute with Ghanaian goalkeeper Stephen Adams. In a letter to Nkana FC dated 23 September 2020, FIFA Head of Players’ Status, Erika Montemor Ferreira acknowledged receipt of the communication of the legal representative of the player confirming that the parties involved in the matter have settled the matter. “In this respect, we acknowledge receipt of the communication of the legal representative of the player, by means of which he confirmed that the parties settled the matter. Consequently, we will now proceed to the closure of the present matter. Furthermore, we kindly inform your club that the ban imposed on it in line with the aforementioned decision is now lifted,” read the letter in part. CAF finalizes 2020/21 Interclubs calendar

  The calendar for the 2020/21 Interclubs season has been finalized. FIFA stakeholders meeting fails to take off

  The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced that the scheduled meeting with FIFA and the aggrieved parties has been postponed to a later date. In a statement obtained by ZSL News Blog, FAZ said all the parties including Minister of Sports Emmanuel Mulenga, National Sports Council of Zambia (NSCZ) chairperson Patrick Mutimushi and FAZ president Andrew Kamanga were set for the meeting but the aggrieved parties were not available for the engagement. The Association has disclosed that following the absence of the aggrieved parties, FIFA Chief Member Veron Mosengo-Omba Associations announced that the meeting had been deferred to a later date. FIFA had set Tuesday, September 1, 2020 as the date for the resolution of the FAZ wrangles surrounding the electoral process with notice of the virtual meeting sent to all parties on Friday, August 28, 2020 to enable them provide credentials for the access to the meeting. Zanaco FC promotes George Nyimbili and Mike Zozi from Young Zanaco

  Seven times Super League champions Zanaco Football Club has announced the promotion of striker George Nyimbili and midfielder Mike Zozi from Young Zanaco to the senior team. The Club’s media team says both players started training with the senior team in February this year with the coaches were keeping a close eye on them and have decided to elevate them to the senior team. PRISON LEOPARDS FOOTBALL CLUB UNVEILS REDESIGNED LOGO

Kabwe based National Division side Prison Leopards Football Club has announced that effected some changes on the Club's logo with immediate effect. According to statement, the Prisons Leopards Media Officer Kingsley Kunda says this is in a bid to align it to its main sponsors the Zambia Correctional Service and as a way of showing identity of the sponsors through the new emblem. The new changes include the replacement of the Leopard with an eagle in an effort to depict the image of both the club and the service and also to rebrand the logo to give it a new outlook.

TP MAZEMBE CROWNED CHAMPIONS OF THE CONGOLESE TOP FLIGHT LEAGUE AS SEASON IS CUT SHORT

Zambian internationals Rainford Kalaba, Kabaso Chongo and Tandi Mwape were crowned champions of DR Congo with TP Mazembe for the second consecutive season and the club record-extending 18th time on Wednesday after the football season was cancelled in the country due to the coronavirus pandemic. The title is Kalaba's 7th in nines years at the club, Chongo's fourth since 2014, while Tandi's first having joined the Lu bumbashi based side last year. MWAPE MITI CONSIDERS TAKING UP COACHING CAREER

FORMER Chipolopolo and Power Dynamos striker Mwape Miti whose football career was halted by a persistent knee injury 15 years ago says he is now considering taking up coaching. Miti scored 109 goals for Odense BoldKlub of Denmark in 246 appearances between 1997 and 2006. “A knee injury made me stop playing football. But I don’t regret that I retired because of injury. I just thank God, am sure it was the only way for me to retire. I have no regrets,” Miti told  # Kalemba  from his residence in Riverside, Kitwe. “I know people have been asking about me. I will start coaching soon. I can’t just live like this without sharing my knowledge and experience in football,” he said. He was joint top scorer in the Danish top league with 19 goals in the 2003/04 season. Miti featured at the Africa Cup in 1996 and 2000 besides representing Chipolopolo 33 times.

CHIPOLOPOLO COACH TO CONDUCT GOALKEEPER’S COURSE FOR SUPER LEAGUE COACHES

Zambia National Soccer Team coach Milutin Sredojevic says his technical bench will start conducting goalkeeper’s training for the Chipolopolo as well as Super League team coaches. The Serbian gaffer popularly known as Micho says his goalkeeper trainer Miroslav Stojnic will conduct a goalkeeper’s course for coaches in the Zambian League once the Covid-19 subsides. He also says that a nursery of prospective goalkeepers had been established with 10 candidates working with the technical bench regularly. Micho added that long-serving Chipolopolo goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene, whom he called a legend, deserves an honourable send-off from the game for his contribution over the years. Micho took over the reins of the Chipolopolo job on February 3, 2020 and has not let even the Covid-19 threat from getting down to work.

FEATURE: WIESLAW GRABOWSKI – FRANK TALKER WHO WAS LOVED BY THE ZAMBIAN FOOTBALL COMMUNITY (1 OF 2)

Composed by Lucky Mwewa Chama Wieslaw Grabowski is a former Zambia National team coach who was appointed in July, 1983 by the Football Association of Zambia. As a player Grabowski played for Gornik Zobrze, and appeared for Poland in six matches and was in the team that beat England 2-0 in the 1974 World Cup qualifying round. He was at 36 years when he was appointed to take charge of the Zambia National Team. According to a newspaper article which was published on 27 th January, 1984, in the Times of Zambia under the Sport On Column it was revealed that Grabowski’s salary was not remitted by FAZ for a period of six months. A month after the publication of the article, Grabowski received a letter terminating his employment contract with FAZ. No reasons were given in the letter. CHIPOLOPOLO TECHNICAL BENCH DESIGN STRATEGIC PLAN FOR INDIVIDUALISED TRAINING AMID COVID-19 THREAT

FAZ Media reports that Senior Men’s National Team Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic and his assistants Dusan Istojanovic, Oswald Mutapa, goalkeeper trainer Miroslav Itojinic, team manager Desmond M’ngawa have gotten down to business in the background of the Covid-19 Threat. Micho and his technical bench have designed a strategic plan that involves individualized training for players using video footage during the covid-19 threat.

KAINDU TASKED WITH STABILIZING TEAM KOPALA

Ndola based Super League side Buildcon FC   have agreed terms with former Power Dynamos Football Club coach Kelvin Kaindu to take charge of the team for the reminder of the season with an option to extend the contract at the end of the campaign. Sources close to the deal reveal that Kaindu as been tasked with the duty of ensuring Team Kopala survives relegation. Kaindu's previous role was assistance coach to Numba Mumamba at Zanaco. At Buildcon he will be assisted by former Zanaco FC midfielder Boyd Mulwanda who will the first assistant. Buildcon have struggled to keep up the pace with the rest of the big guns picking six wins,  seven draws and losing ten times and now fighting for survival in the relegation zone with 25 points.

AC MILAN INTERESTED IN THE SERVICES OF SALZBURG STRIKER PATSON DAKA

According to calciomercato.com, the Swede could depart the Rossoneri after just six months should he choose not to sign a new deal, and it is believed those in charge at Milan have already drawn up a few contingency plans. Daka who is currently in the books of Austrian champions Red Bull Salzburg is among the contingent of strikers AC Milan is closing monitoring for as replacements for Ibrahimovic. FLASH BACK: NAPSA STARS CROWNED 2012 ABSA CUP WINNERS (BARCLAYS CUP) AFTER BEATING ABA YELLOW 4-2 ON PENALTIES

Napsa Stars won their only ABSA (former Barclays) Cup championship after beating Power Dynamos 4-2 on post-match penalties at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on 17 th November, 2012. The game was decided on penalties after ending 4-4 in extra-time in a dramatic 120 minutes of end-to-end action. Aba Yellow took the lead in the 9th minute through striker Graven Chitalu’s headed goal with Napsa failing to get level midway through the first half when Mike Silyawve’s penalty was pushed away by former Power goalkeeper Joshua Titima.
