COPPER QUEENS SET UP CAMP IN PRETORIA IN READINESS FOR CAMEROON CLASH

The Zambia Women National team has set up a week long camp  in South Africa prior to the March 5 Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games qualifier in Yaoundé, Cameroon.                 Copper Queens coach Bruce Mwape has named his final 20-member squad that will be camped in Pretoria and play some friendly matches. The team left for Pretoria this morning where they will be camped until March 1 when they travel to Cameroon for the match against the Indomitable Lioness. Zambia will host Cameroon on March 10 in the return leg with the winner qualifying to the Olympics. The losing team will engage in a play-off with Chile in the final window available for qualification.

ZANACO’S MATCH AGAINST GREEN EAGLES FURTHER RESCHEDULED TO 15TH APRIL

Seven times Super League champions Zanaco Football Club has announced that their match against Green Eagles Football Club which was supposed to be played this Wednesday 26th February 2020 has been moved to 15th April 2020 due to the Bankers CAF engagement this Weekend. The Bankers will host Pyramids Football Club of Egypt on 1st March 2020 for the Confederation of African Football Confederation Cup Quarter Finals first Leg at Heroes Stadium, Lusaka. Zanaco, who are unbeaten under Chris Kaunda are coming from a 2-0 win over Buildcon Football Club this past weekend which pushed them in eighth place with 35 points from 21 league matches while Green Eagles are second with 41 points.

NAPSA STARS BEAT ZESCO UNITED TO RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

Lusaka based Super League side Napsa Stars beat defending champions Zesco United by 2-1 to level on points with united on 39 points but still remain 5th due to goal difference while Zega Mambo are fourth place. Log leaders Forest Rangers played out to a nil-nil draw with Kabwe Warriors at the Godfrey Chitalu Stadium. Forest Rangers moved to 43 points on top while Warriors are now on 35 points. In Lumwana, Lumwana Radiants draw 1-1 against Nkwazi Football club as the police sponsored continue with their unbeaten run in 2020. Power Dynamos got back to winning ways after recording a 2-1 win over Green Eagles at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe. Mufulira Wanderers were humbled 2-0 by Lusaka Dynamos while Nakambala Leopards failed to utilize home advantage and draw 1-all against Kabwe Youth soccer academy. WEDSON NYIRENDA DONATES SOCCER BALLS AND MARKERS TO NDOLA UNITED

THE Ndola City Council has thanked Coach Wedson Nyirenda for his visit and humble donation to the “people’s team” Ndola United Football Club. Speaking during his visit, Coach Wedson Nyirenda bemoaned the fact that Ndola United Football Club was still not plying it’s trade in the Super League, a club that he termed as a mother of all football teams in Ndola. “I have been deeply touched for the past years; if you look at Ndola and Zambian football, you can not disassociate Ndola and Ndola United FC, Zambian football historically ticks because of Ndola," he observed. Coach Wedson however, encouraged the players to not relent. He asked players to take the bull by it’s horns and "take the team where it belongs in the Super League." ZAMBIA PLACED IN POT ONE AHEAD OF AFRICAN NATIONS CHAMPIONSHIP DRAWS

The Zambia National Soccer team will this evening learn of their opponents in the Cameroon 2020 African Nations Championship that will be staged from April 4-25 during the draws to be held in Yaounde, Cameroon. The Chipolopolo Boys are among the top seeded teams and will be in Pot One alongside hosts Cameroon, former champions Morocco and Libya. The Chipolopolo boys have qualified to two straight tournaments after the last edition in Morocco where they reached the quarterfinals. FAZ Media reports that Chipolopolo coach Milutin Sredojevic is in Cameroon to witness the draw. The draw will take place at 20:00 hours Central African Time (CAT).

CHIPOLOPOLO COACH SUMMONS 67 LOCAL PLAYERS FOR ASSESSMENT CAMP SLATED FOR LUSAKA

Chipolopolo coach Milutin Sredojevic has summoned 67 local players for the second phase of his assessment program that started with the Copperbelt last week. Micho has summoned players from the provinces not covered in the first session and will get down to work in Lusaka on February 18 with players from Southern, Western, Eastern and Northern provinces all included. Micho is assessing local players to be included in the back-to-back clashes against Botswana next month and the April 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN). The selected players have been halved into Super League and National Division One with each stream having own drills. Micho is expected to select 30 from each stream in the first phase before trimming the squad further. The Lusaka camp will run for three days. FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION OF ZAMBIA PRESIDENT SAYS ZAMBIA WILL GO BACK TO THE TOP OF THE AFRICAN GAME

Football Association of Zambia President Andrew Kamanga says returning to the summit of the African game would be his priority should he be re-elected next month. “We need to make FAZ financially independent, go back to the Africa Cup in 2021 and go to the World Cup in 2022,” he said. Speaking when he featured on Hot FM’s Hot Breakfast Show, Kamanga said his executive had laid a strong foundation despite not having qualified to the Africa Cup of Nations. “Since we came into office we have won the Cosafa under-20 twice in 2016 and 2019, we have won the Cosafa under-17 twice in 2017 and 2019 this is a team that had never had never won Cosafa before. GREEN EAGLES ANNOUNCE THE SIGNING OF STRIKER LINEKER MWIIKISA ON AN 18 MONTHS DEAL

Choma based Super League side Green Eagles has announced the signing Zambian striker Lineker Mwiikisa on an 18 months Contract. Green Eagles Media says Mwiikisa has joined the Zambia National Service outfit as a free agent after plying his trade at Club Ferroviario de Beira of Mozambique. The Kawale Boys have also announced that they have recalled goalkeeper Eric Mapulanga from his loan stint at Division 1 outfits ZNS Lwamfumu Football Club. Green Eagles are currently top of the Zambian Super League on 40 points from 20 League matches.

MAKWATA SAYS SCORING ON HIS DEBUT WAS A DREAM COME TRUE

It was a dream debut goal for John Mark Makwata, that saw ZESCO United leave Mufulira with 3 points in the bag as the beat Mufulira Wanderers by 2-nil on Sunday afternoon. Following a goalless first half, in the second half, ZESCO United took the game to Wanderers with the intention of finding their first goal. Both Makwata and veteran striker, Winston Kalengo proved a great menace for Wanderers defenders. A good interchange of passes between Were and Mwila Phiri saw the latter power through a great cross that was flicked into the back of the net by Kalengo, leaving Wanderers goalkeeper, Joshua Titima with no chance. POWER DYNAMOS CEO CONDEMNS VIOLENT AND UNRULY CONDUCT AT THE STADIUM

Power Dynamos Football Club has strongly warned perpetrators of violence and unruly conduct at its matches. Club Chief Executive Officer Happie Munkondya said in the recent times, the club has witnessed a strange behavioral attitude by some fans who always want to throw missiles on the pitch to vent their frustration against decisions or actions taken by match officials, coaches or opponents. Munkondya was reacting to the ugly incidence witnessed on Saturday 8 th , February 2020, during the match against Kabwe Youth Academy where a broken bottle was thrown at the players who were warming up and severely injuring George Chisala. He says the act must be condemned in the strongest terms by all well-meaning Power Dynamos fans. Copper Queens shot-stopper says the squad is highly motivated to get over the indomitable lionesses of Cameroon in the final qualifying round of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. speaking in an interview, Hazel Nali said although Cameroon was a highly rated opponent, Zambia had done enough to deserve respect as one of the top two teams on the continent in the Olympic race. The Green Buffaloes goalie says with good preparations the Copper Queens will triumph over the lionesses of Cameroon. MICHO GETS DOWN TO WORK WITH 64 LOCAL PLAYERS

Chipolopolo coach Milutin Sredojevic has gotten down to work with 64 local players drawn from the Super League and National Division One teams converging in Ndola. The 64 players have been drawn from nine Super League teams and nine National Division One teams drawn from Copperbelt, Central and North Western provinces. In the second phase to be hosted in Lusaka, another 64 players drawn from the Super League and National Division One will be run through the mill. After the two local camps, Micho will zero in on a consolidated batch of local players that will set in motion preparations for the March 26 home tie against Botswana and the away encounter four days later. Green Eagles recorded a win over Green Buffaloes on Saturday to go top of the Super League. FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION OF ZAMBIA SETS 7TH FEBRUARY, 2020 AS CLOSING DATE FOR NOMINATIONS

The Football Association of Zambia says nominations for candidates vying for provincial and national elections have been going on smoothly. In statement released to Zambian Football News, the Association says candidates have been freely filing in their nominations after FAZ duly circulated nomination forms and Electoral Rules. The Association has however advised Cand idates to observe Electoral Rules as they canvass support for their bids. FAZ further says it will engage law enforcement officers should they strongly suspect any possible disorder. FAZ has set Saturday, 7th February, 2020 as the closing date for nominations. Meanwhile, former Football Association of Zambia president Kalusha Bwalya on Thursday afternoon filed in his nomination for the Association's presidency.
