“Referees have been pathetic this season,” Zesco United coach

  ZESCO United head coach Numba Mumamba could not hide his disgust with the level of officiating which has continued to dominate the Zambian game. The gaffer has appealed to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Referees Department to do introspection into the standard of refereeing in the country. In an interview after his side’s 3-nil defeat to Prison Leopards 3-0, Numba Mumamba urged the FAZ Referees manager and his people need to take a great look at how their officials are managing the games. Mumamba says the referees have been pathetic this season and suggests that there is need to do something so that the game of football is developed. “I think the FAZ Referees manager and his people need to take a great look at how their officials are managing the games. FAM welcomes postponement of the Scorchers qualifier against the Copper Queens

  FAM says it has welcomed Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) move to postpone the qualifiers of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON). According to Malawi Nation Sports, FAM president Walter Nyamilandu says the postponement augured well with the Association after a long layoff due to Covid-19. Nyamilandu says the Scorchers need a full house as they were not guaranteed of the availability of China-based Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga due to new Covid-19 restrictions that have been imposed in China. Malawi’s Scorchers were expected to face Zambia’s She-polopolo in the first round next month. But according to a communique from the continental football governing body, the qualifiers have been postponed due to poor conditions of some stadia. The communique states that the first round matches will now take place during the Fifa window of October 18 to 26 while the second round will be played in the window of February 14 to 23 2022.

Defending Super League champions Nkana Football Club has appointed former Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club Coach Beston Chambeshi as its new Head Coach with immediate effect. According to a media statement, the 2017 AFCON U-20 winning coach returns to the Kitwe Outfit as head coach for the fourth time, the last time was from June 2017 to December 2019. Speaking shortly after taking up his ne w role, Chambeshi says is not an easy decision to make to go back but that he believes he belong to Nkana.   He adds that Nkana is in his blood thus decision to go back and help the team. Club Acting Chief Executive Officer Kapwepwe Mutale explained that the development was aimed at improving the team’s performance and repositioning the club towards finishing in a respectable position at the end of the 2020/2021 MTN Super League. Forest Rangers extend dominance over Nkana to six matches

  Forest Rangers have extended their dominance over Nkana Football Club to six wins on the run with a 2-1 win over the defending champions this afternoon. In a match played at the Nkana stadium in Kitwe, Forest Rangers opened the scores through Yan Daily Echabe in the 14 th minute before Nkana forward Emmanuel Mwiinde restored parity for Nkana four minutes later. Newly signed Forest Rangers striker Thomas Chideu opened his goal scoring account for the Ndola based side in the 32 nd minute to give Fole the lead at the break. Both teams, continued to press forward in the second half with Fole Malembe holding on to the lead which has seen them break into the top four to sit in third position with 35 points while Nkana remain in 16 th position with 21 points from 19 League matches.

Zanaco Football Club in technical partnership deal with Umbro

Umbro on Wednesday announced a technical partnership with seven times Zambian Super League Zanaco Football Club. Umbro in a statement has revealed that as Zanaco Football club’s official technical partner, it will be providing the Lusaka based club with official match kit, training kit and off-field wear. Umbro stated it is looking forward to a successful partnership with Zanaco Football Club over the next few years.  ‘Sensational’ Zanaco was established in 1978 as a social team by employees of the national bank and the club has grown into one of the country’s most successful outfits, having won seven Super League titles.  They are also the only team outside of the Copperbelt region to have won and successfully defended league titles which they achieved in the early 2000s.

ZESCO United coach Numba Mumamba described Sunday’s victory over Zanaco Football Club as significant in the club’s title pursuit. In an interview with the club’s media, Mumamba said the game was difficult for his side in the first half because they gave Zanaco players a lot of room to play their game which resulted in the Ndola side conceding a goal. “ This is an important win on our part because we really needed this win so that we can open up a seven point lead at the top of the league. "We must remain focused," Napsa Stars coach

  Napsa Stars FC Head Coach Muhamad Fathi has said the team must remain focused ahead of three other Group games remaining in the CAF Confederations Cup. Fathi says the team has to keep focus as there are still three more games to go in the group and that everything is possible in football. “We have to keep focus; we still have three games to go and everything is possible in football.” Fathi attributed his side’s 1-nil loss to Coton Sport of Cameroon on Sunday to a lapse in defence and a series of missed chances. “ We are not regretting, it’s just the name of the game but it’s painful when we have a lot of chances but at the end of the day, we lost the game, ” said Fathi. Copper Queens to face South Africa and Kenya in international friendly matches

  The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has secured two international friendly matches for the Copper Queens as part of intensified preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. In a statement, the Association has revealed that Zambia will play South Africa on April 10, 2021 in Johannesburg at Milpark Stadium before hosting the Harambee Starlets of Kenya this month end. FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala says the two friendly matches will help the technical bench gauge the strength of the squad. Tripple M Stars and RM Soccer Academy emerge as Champions for the 2021 Ndola Open Tourney

  The "pride of Twapya' township as they call themselves, on Monday scooped the 2021 Ndola Youth League Open Tournament in the under 20 Category as they beat Young Indeni via a thrilling 13-12 penalty shoot out. This was after the match ended 1-1 in regulation time. It was Tripple M Stars who scored first in the 32' through the flexible Akba Ahmed before Young Indeni equalised through a beautiful header by intelligent Kafula Kaisi Midway in the second half. Liverpool fans send Patson Daka transfer message

  Liverpool fans have been reacting online to Patson Daka scoring the fastest hat-trick in Austrian Bundesliga history. According to the Liverpool Echo, it was claimed last month that the Reds were one of four Premier League clubs reportedly in the hunt to sign the Red Bull Salzburg forward this summer. The report also cited Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal as the three other sides all eyeing a move for the 22-year-old. Daka bagged two goals against Liverpool in a pre-season friendly last August and was again on the score sheet in impressive fashion on Sunday. The Zambian striker fired his side ahead against SK Sturm Graz after just three minutes at the Red Bull Arena before adding his second two minutes later as he completed his hat-trick in the 3-1 win after just 11 minutes. Tottenham, Everton closely monitoring Salzburg striker Patson Daka

  Chipolopolo and Red Bull Salzburg striker Patson Daka's goal scoring form has reportedly made him a subject of transfer interest from several European clubs. Goal.com reports that several European clubs including Tottenham Hotspur and Everton in the Premier League are closely monitoring Daka following his exploits in the Austrian Bundesliga were he has now scored 23 goals in just 19 League matches for Red Bull Salzburg. The 22-year-old continued his rich vein of form which took his tally to 23 goals after 19 league matches this campaign as he scored an eight-minute hat-trick in the first half when RB Salzburg beat Sturm Graz 3-1 in Sunday’s Austrian Bundesliga encounter. The 2017 CAF Young Player of the Year gave the hosts a three-goal lead in the opening minutes at the Red Bull Arena with goals in the third, fifth and 11th minutes. This comes after Daka scored two goals in each of Zambia's last two Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches, against Algeria and Zimbabwe.

Buffaloes welcome Zesco United as Zanaco take on elite Dynamos

  Table toppers Zesco United will this weekend visit the capital city as they take on Green Buffaloes in a lunch time kickoff at the Sunset Stadium in Lusaka. Zega Mambo is coming from a 2-1 win over Zanaco Football Club while Green Buffaloes drew 2-2 against Nkana last Thursday. Chipolopolo's quest for maiden FIFA WC spot starts in Mauritania

  Zambia will begin their FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualification campaign with an away match to Mauritania in June and wind up their campaign on the road away to Tunisia. According to FAZ Media, Match Day 1 for Chipolopolo, who are in Group B, will see them travelling to Mauritania in the first weekend of June before hosting Tunisia a week later. Game three of six in the group will be a trip to face Equatorial Guinea between September 1-4 before a return fixture against the Nzalang Nacional between 5 th and 7 th September. 2020 Olympic Games: Copper Queens enter camp to commence preparations

Zambia National Women’s Team coach Bruce Mwape has summoned 27 players to report to camp today to begin preparations for the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The Copper Queens Coach Mwape has also summoned skipper Barbara Banda who leads a number of familiar names in the squad, with the majority of them that played a role in qualifying the country to the global showpiece for the first time in the country’s history, all making it. Mwape has kept faith in some experienced players who helped the team qualify with some notable figures being the Green Buffaloes trio of Anita Mulenga, Martha Tembo and Lushomo Mweemba.   Nkana's new signing Emmanuel Mbola says he is ready for the hard work ahead for the defending Super League champions who are in the relegation zone from 16 league matches. Former FC Porto left-back joins Nkana

  Super League defending champions Nkana Football Club have announced the signing of former TP Mazembe left-back Emmanuel Mbola. The former FC Porto attack minded left back joins Nkana after a short-lived second stint with the Lubumbashi giants TP Mazembe where he had restricted game time at the club. Mbola was a regular member of the Chipolopolo between 2009 and 2016 but came to prominence when he played at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola as a 16-year-old and attracted interest from top English sides including Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs with his intelligent and blistering quick runs.

Green Eagles lands 3-year K600 000 partnership deal

  Choma based Super League side has announced a partnership deal with Investrust Bank. In a statement, Green Eagles Media Officer Faith Kaira says Investrust comes on board with a K600, 000 sponsorship deal with the club which goes on for three years. Kaira has revealed that the first year will go towards infrastructure support around Choma Independence Stadium with the next two years going towards kit sponsorship. She stated the new partners will choose which area to work on after being updated with the various projects at the facility which include a reservoir tank, terrace seats, floodlights, and the car park among others. And Green Eagles Football Club Chairman Col. Jim Kafumukache says there are a lot of projects going on at the stadium and that the partnership has come at the right time. He explains that it is the aim of the club to give the stadium a facelift with hope of hosting CAF games in Choma.

Power Dynamos goes third

  Power Dynamos moved into third position on the Super League after beating Napsa Stars 2-nil in a rescheduled Week 22 fixture played at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka. Two quick goals from Godfrey Ngwenya and Kennedy Musonda were enough for ‘Aba Yellow’ to leapfrog Forest Rangers and Lusaka Dynamos into third place on 34 points. The Pensioners recorded their 6 th defeat of the season and remain in 13 th position after their home defeat to the Perry Mutapa drilled side. Muhammad Fathi and his charges will now shift their attention to Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup match against Cotton Sport.

  13 th placed Napsa Stars will this afternoon take on 5 th placed Power Dynamos in a Week 22 rescheduled encounter. Lusaka based Napsa Stars are coming from a 2-1 win over Buildcon Football club which pushed them into 13 th place as Doisy Soko and Bornwell Mwape scored to cancel out the earlier Buildcon goal by Emmanuel Okutu. "We started AFCON Qualifiers without a substantive coach," Kamanga regrets

  Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Andrew Kamanga says it is regrettable that the Chipolopolo started the campaign without a substantive coach in place which saw them lose the first two matches against Algeria away and against Zimbabwe in the AFCON Qualifiers. In his President Column, Kamanga says the Association’s efforts to recruit a coach suffered serious resistance leaving the Football governing body to rely on local coaches that oversaw the first two matches. In reference to Micho’s appointment, Kamanga says it is never easy taking the stewardship of any team midway through a campaign as tough as the Africa Cup of Nations.  "In reflecting on this failure, we cannot avoid regretting that we started the campaign without a substantive coach in place which saw us lose the first two matches against Algeria away (5-0) and against Zimbabwe (2-1). The Zambian Super League makes a return this week. CAF representatives Napsa Stars have a date against Power Dynamos this Tuesday in Lusaka at Woodlands Stadium, while Nkana have a tricky encounter on Thursday when they host Green Buffaloes at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe. Newly Elected FAZ Exco gets down to work

  The newly elected Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) executive committee members on Monday got down to work with their first meeting at Football House. All the 13 executive committee members converged at Football House to lay the ground for their four marathon ahead of them. The executive committee comprises Andrew Kamanga (president), Justin Mumba (vice president), Priscilla Katoba (Women Representative), Arthur Kamulosu (North Western), Crispin Kamuna (Eastern), Collins Mukwala (Muchinga), David Simwinga (Western), Chisanga Pule (Central), Jordan Maliti (Lusaka), Patrick Ndhlovu (Copperbelt), Francis Hafwiti (Southern), Mwansa Kapyanga (Northern), Mweemba Mujala (Luapula). EDWARD TEMBO’S CONTRACT NEARS END

Zesco United midfielder Edward Tembo may be on his way out as his contracts comes to an end on 31st January. A close source has revealed that the Ndola giants are yet to agree a new deal with the midfielder and will have to act hastily on whether they want him to stay beyond the current season or possibly lose him as a free agent. The 2017 U-20 AFCON winner and former City of Lusaka captain is currently on the radar of some Lusaka and Copperbelt based Super League clubs who are monitoring the situation. It is yet to be seen if Zesco United is going to release the midfielder just yet considering the rebuilding process currently in swing at the club who are recruiting young and promising talent.

FAZ Suspends Forest Rangers Goalkeeping Coach Over Unsporting Conduct

  The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has suspended Forest Rangers Football Club goalkeeping coach Charles Chileshe for unsporting conduct during a FAZ/MTN Super Division Week 13 fixture between Prison Leopards and Forest Rangers at President Stadium in Kabwe on Saturday. Napsa Stars Coach Fathi tests Positive for Covid-19

  NAPSA Stars FC head coach Mohamed Fathi has tested positive for COVID-19. Napsa FC Media Officer Gwen Chipasula said in a statement that this was after the team's routine COVID-19 tests which were conducted before the week 13 MTN/FAZ Super League game played against Red Arrows FC on Saturday. Ms. Chipasula revealed that the coach is currently in isolation at home and following health guidelines set by the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health. Coach Fathi missed Saturday's game and will also miss Wednesday's clash against Forest Rangers.
